  • Check out more details below

Tata Motors has recently revamped its lineup, introducing significant upgrades to models such as the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. While these changes have brought dramatic improvements in terms of styling and features to these vehicles, the automaker acknowledges that such refreshes may only lead to marginal gains in market share, which are often temporary. To achieve substantial growth in market share, Tata Motors recognizes the need to introduce entirely new models while simultaneously confirming the launch timeline of Tatat Curvv & Sierra.

In the same line of thought, potentially a new Tata MPV is on the cards as well. Let's see what the official statements indicate to us.

Shailesh Chandra, the Managing Director of Tata Motors, has officially announced the planned launches of the Tata Curvv and Tata Sierra in 2024 and 2025, respectively. These new offerings are expected to be available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants. Additionally, Tata Motors is actively developing a brand-new product in a segment where it currently lacks a presence. This segment, characterized by steady and growing demand, is believed to be the MPV category, a market already occupied by models like the Maruti Ertiga, Kia Carens, Toyota Rumion, Mahindra Marazzo, Toyota Innova HyCross, and Maruti Invicto.

Tata Motors aims to introduce an MPV that bridges the gap between the smaller Maruti Ertiga and the larger Toyota Innova, offering a range of variants to cater to both commercial fleets and private buyers. The choice of platform for this MPV remains to be seen, whether Tata will opt for the existing OMEGARC architecture or develop a new one to prioritize space and practicality. Although Tata Motors has had previous MPV models in its portfolio, such as the Aria and Hexa, these products struggled to establish a strong foothold in their respective segments.

Tata Safari And Harrier Facelift Launched

Tata Motors has introduced the Tata Safari facelift in India, starting at a base price of Rs. 16.19 lakh and the Harrier at Rs. 15.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The recently updated Safari and Harrier models maintain their existing engine and transmission configurations, without any alterations. Both SUVs retain their robust 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, which generates an impressive 168 bhp of power and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Customers are still offered the flexibility to select between the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions for these vehicles.

Verdict

Tata Motors is revamping its lineup with upgrades to models like the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, but they acknowledge the need for new models to make a bigger market impact. The Tata Curvv and Tata Sierra are set to launch in 2024 and 2025, with both ICE and EV variants. Additionally, Tata Motors is looking to enter a new segment, potentially the MPV category, to capture a broader market.
