Tata Punch Facelift: What The Spy Shots Reveal

The latest prototype of the Tata Punch facelift was seen heavily camouflaged, but a closer look hints at redesigned taillights. Unlike the earlier test mule that carried familiar units, this one appears to feature a connected LED light bar running across the tailgate, giving the SUV a more premium stance. The rear bumper design also seems to have been mildly reworked, though the Punch's compact, upright stance has been retained. On the side, the facelift is expected to introduce new alloy wheel designs, adding to the SUV's refreshed appeal.

Earlier sightings had already given away major updates on the front fascia, inspired by the upcoming Punch EV. Expect a new grille, sleeker LED DRLs, and a revised headlamp cluster to set it apart from the outgoing model. Inside, the cabin gets a big leap in features. Updates include a freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen, Tata's new 2-spoke illuminated steering wheel, and a fully digital driver's display. A touch-based climate control panel and six airbags are also expected to make their way into the facelifted model, making it both more modern and safer. However, I would like to see the HVAC controls being the traditional physical buttons, which are much more convenient and less intrusive while driving in my opinion.
Powertrain

The 2025 Tata Punch facelift is expected to retain its current set of powertrains without any mechanical changes. This means it will continue to be offered with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine producing 88 PS and 115 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Alongside, buyers will also have the option of a 1.2-litre three-cylinder CNG variant, which develops 73.5 PS and 103 Nm, available exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The 2025 Tata Punch facelift is expected to launch towards the end of this year, with prices starting around Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to lock horns with the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Ignis, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Citroen C3.
Verdict
The Tata Punch has already cemented its place as one of India's most popular micro SUVs, and this facelift looks set to build on that momentum. With connected LED taillamps, a tech-rich cabin, and more safety features, Tata is ensuring that the Punch doesn't just hold its ground but also sets a higher benchmark in its segment. While the engines remain unchanged, the facelifted Punch's design upgrades and added equipment should make it even more appealing to first-time buyers.
