Maruti eVitara: Design Philosophy

The Maruti eVitara stays true to the futuristic design language previewed by the EVX concept, with modern styling with rugged SUV proportions. The front end features sleek Y-shaped LED DRLs, angular projector headlamps, and a closed-off gloss black grille, emphasising its electric identity. Along the sides, strong shoulder lines, pronounced wheel-arch cladding, and aero-optimised 19-inch alloy wheels lend the SUV a muscular yet contemporary appeal. At the rear, a connected LED light bar stretches across the tailgate, giving the eVitara a wide, planted stance. Dimensionally, the SUV measures around 4,257 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase and 180 mm ground clearance, figures that place it squarely in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

Inside, the eVitara presents an entirely new cabin design, distinct from any existing Maruti model. The dashboard layout features a twin-screen setup, one for the digital instrument cluster and another for the infotainment display, housed within a single, seamless frame. Soft-touch materials on the dashboard, ambient lighting, and a rotary gear selector further enhance the cabin's premium appeal further. Top variants are expected to offer ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, an Infinity sound system, a 360-degree camera, an auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger. International versions of the eVitara also include ADAS, which could make their way to the Indian version depending on variant positioning.
Powertrain, Battery Options, & Range
The Maruti eVitara will be offered with two battery pack options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, for different range and performance requirements.
- 49 kWh variant: Single motor producing 144 bhp and 189 Nm with front-wheel drive setup
- 61 kWh variant: Single motor (or optional dual motor abroad) delivering up to 184 bhp and 300 Nm

While official India-specific range figures will be announced closer to launch, the 61 kWh model is expected to offer over 500 km on a single charge (WLTP equivalent). Fast-charging capabilities are expected as standard, allowing an 80% charge in under an hour with DC fast chargers. An AWD variant may also be introduced later, depending on market demand and positioning.
Expected Pricing & Rivals
While Maruti Suzuki has yet to reveal pricing, the eVitara is expected to start around Rs 22-Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant, with top-end dual-motor models crossing the Rs 30 lakh mark. Once launched, it will compete with upcoming models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv.ev, all of which are set to shape the mainstream EV SUV segment in 2026.
Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara marks the brand's long-awaited debut in India's growing EV landscape. With bold design, promising range, and advanced tech, it aims to balance Maruti's mass-market practicality with Nexa-level sophistication. Its arrival on December 2, 2025, will not just introduce a new model but also signal Maruti's transition toward electrification, setting the tone for its future lineup of EVs in India.
