Exclusive: Was This The Original Honda WR-V Facelift? Or It's The Upcoming Model?

Honda brought in the facelifted version of the WR-V in 2020 and with the updated model, the prices were drastically increased. Fast forward to 2022, we've got hold of the exclusive images of the Honda WR-V. We think this to be the original facelift model that might have been axed out for the current facelift. Or the other angle is that WR-V's direct competitor, the S-Cross new-gen will be launched early next year and it is quite possible that Honda might want to stay in the game and brings in the updated WR-V. We share with you all the new details!

As can be seen, the WR-V on the left has an all-new projector headlight set-up with LED daytime running lights on the top. In addition to this, the grille is now slimmer as compared to the huge chunk of chrome present on the current model (the same is seen on the right side). The lower part of the crossover remains more or less the same with faux skid plates to give a sporty look and fog lights.

Move towards the side profile and notice the same 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels design, body cladding and chrome door handles. The ORVMs get integrated LED turn indicators and the silhouette of the crossover remains more or less the same.

There are no images for the rear profile but we do believe there must have been minimalistic changes. From the images, the taillights in the left picture seem to be carved out in a similar way as the current model that is available on sale. We think that this might be the original facelift model that was to be launched in 2020 but the carmaker changed their decision and brought in a subtle looking WR-V into the market.

Currently, the WR-V is offered with two engine options - 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel. The former is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor that churns out 89 bhp of power with 110 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI certified mileage of the same sticks to 16.5 kmpl and it gets mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The oil burner belts out 99 bhp of power with 200 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI certified mileage sticks to 23.7 kmpl and this engine is paired with a six-speed stick shift. There is no option for the automatic as of now. Its competitor, S-Cross gets a 4-speed AT on the current model and the new-gen model will get a six-speed AT.

Feature-wise, the WR-V gets an electric sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, push-button start/stop, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs and more. It is priced from Rs 8.90 lakh to Rs 12.20 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
