Hero Xtreme 160R BS6: What is it?
This naked street bike is an all-new product that slots in well between the 125cc sporty commuters and larger 200cc offerings from the company. It is geared towards young enthusiasts, college pass-outs and fresh corporate employees as well as current 125cc owners who want to upgrade to a larger, more powerful motorcycle that comes with an affordable price tag. The USPs here are the styling, features, engine and handling.

Hero Xtreme 160R BS6 Pricing and Rivals
The 160R will lock horns with rivals like the Honda Hornet 160, TVS Apache RTR 160, Yamaha FZ-S and the Bajaj NS160. However, given how well the 200s from Hero are priced, it is fair to say that the Hero Xtreme 160R BS6 price will undercut all its rivals with an estimated starting price of Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000 ex-showroom Delhi. If Hero can pull this off, the 160R will be a common sight on Indian roads.

Hero Xtreme 160R BS6 Engine
Powering the 160R is a new 163cc single-cylinder motor that comes with fuel injection and as many as 14 sensors that work in conjunction to deliver the best possible engine performance. Max power and torque figures stand at 15 bhp and 14 Nm respectively. While these may not be class leading, the 160R weighs in at just 138.5 kg, giving it an excellent power to weight ratio. The certified economy isn't out but its safe to assume that the 160R, giving its torquey nature, will deliver an easy 45-50 kmpl in city usage if the rider ends up using the higher gears. Hero also claims a 0-60 km/h run in just 4.7 seconds.

Hero Xtreme 160R BS6 Engine Features
One of the best things about this new naked bike is the extensive feature list on offer. We were pleasantly surprised to see the 160R loaded with a side stand indicator, Showa front forks, first in segment petal disc brakes, inverted LCD screen, concealed grab rails et al. Other features include hazard light switch, a wide 130mm rear tyre and 7 step adjustment for the rear suspension. At an expected price of 80-85k, the 160R will offer terrific value for money in the segment.

The Xtreme 160R is now listed on the company's website and we are sure, post the lockdown period, dealer dispatch will start. This bike promises naked streetfighter looks, agile handling, a peppy motor and loads of features.
