MG Motor India is just an SUV old in the Indian market, but seems to carry pride in the offering. Now, moving ahead from the Hector, it is the ZS EV from MG Motor which is in the news. The Hyundai Kona rival has crossed over 2000 bookings till now, this even without an official pricing announcement!
On December 21, MG Motor India opened the official bookings for the ZS EV and in less than a month, the manufacturers have stopped taking more now. Remember, it happened with the Hector too when the manufacturers stopped the bookings when the numbers reached to 28,000 units.
Well, with the carmaker moving towards a greener fuel, they have also set up chargers around the country. They surely are pushing the electric infrastructure so the buyers of the SUV do not suffer. The launch of the ZS EV is slated for January 23rd and it will initially be sold in five cities first - Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Reminding of you about the battery specifications of the MG ZS EV then it gets a battery pack of 44.5 kWh and supports fast charging. The motor produces 143 bhp along with 353 Nm of maximum torque. At full charge, it can be driven for about 340 km. Relating it with Hyundai Kona then it returns an ARAI certified distance of 452 km.
Coming towards the charging then MG will install fast charging at select dealerships. It can charge the battery from 0-80% in just about 50 minutes while the chargers set up at your home/office will juice up the battery in 7-8 hours fully.
Like the Hector which comes with features up to the brim, the ZS EV follows the trail too. This in turn gives it an edge over the Hyundai Kona EV. For starters, it gets a large panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, PM 2.5 filter, Electronic parking brake among others.
Upon launch, MG ZS EV will set its wheels in the Indian market with two trims - Excite and Exclusive. Both the trims host its own set of features and for that, you can check out this.
Also, the buyers of the ZS EV will be provided with a portable charging cable that can be used with the regular 15A charging socket for emergency situations. Please note, that the prices at the time of the launch are introductory and are exclusive for the first set of buyers only. It will be increased once MG reopens the bookings for the ZS EV.
